How ComplyAssist works

What ComplyAssist does

Generative AI makes it trivially easy to produce a document that cites a case, statute, clause, or source that does not exist or is misquoted. Courts and bars are responding — Florida Rule 2.515(d)(2) is an early, concrete example — and the accountability lands on the human who signs.

ComplyAssist never claims an item is real or fake. It reads the document, pulls out every checkable item and the claim it is cited for, and gives you a structured place to verify each one. When you are done, it generates a signed PDF certification record stating that the items were AI-extracted and independently verified by you.

Before you start

• ✓Create an account. Sign up free — the free plan includes one certification per month.
• ✓Set your reviewer name. Open Account and enter the name (and bar number / license ID, if you want it on the record) you will sign with. You cannot sign a record until a reviewer name is set.
• ✓Have your document as a PDF. The brief, contract, or report you are about to rely on.

Step 1 · Upload a document

From the Dashboard, click + New certification. Choose the document type — Court filing, Contract, Report / public document, or Other — then upload your PDF.

AI reads the document and extracts every checkable item along with the proposition it is cited to support, and pre-fills cover details (caption, court/agreement type, jurisdiction) where it can. This runs against your monthly AI allowance — see Plans & AI usage. When extraction finishes you land in the review workspace.

ComplyAssist only extracts — it never decides whether an item is genuine. Treat every extracted item as something still to be checked, never as something already confirmed.

Step 2 · Verify each item

The review screen shows your document on one side and the list of extracted items on the other. Click an item to expand it. For each one you confirm the three-prong review:

AI writes a short Verify note suggesting what to check — it is a prompt for you, not a verdict. Useful tools while reviewing:

• •Grab section on page — draw a box on the document to mark exactly where the item appears. Marks link the list to the page; click a mark to jump to it. Add as many as you need.
• •References (+ URL / + PDF) — attach the source you used to verify (a link to the case, or a PDF of the statute) so your reasoning is on the record.
• •Edit / Delete / Exclude — fix the extracted text, remove an item AI shouldn't have pulled, or exclude one from the certification with a reason.
• •Save & Next — record your checks and move to the next item. An item turns ✓ Resolved once all its prongs are confirmed (or it is excluded).

You must resolve every item before you can sign. If you need to re-run extraction after editing the source, use Recheck.

Step 3 · Sign & download

Once every item is resolved, open the Attestation step. Read the attestation paragraph — it mirrors the relevant certification language and states that the items were AI-extracted and independently verified by you. Type your full name to sign, then click Complete & sign.

ComplyAssist generates a PDF certification record listing every item, your checks, and your signature. Download it, attach it to your file, or keep it as your audit trail. The certification stays in your dashboard history.

What you can certify

The same engine — AI extracts, a named human verifies — powers four document types. The labels and attestation wording adapt to each.

Dashboard & history

Your Dashboard lists every certification, newest first, split into Active and Archivedtabs. From a row you can re-open a draft, download a completed record, archive a certification to tidy your list, or delete it entirely (which also deletes the stored file). The header shows the plan you're on and how much AI extraction you've used.

Plans & AI usage

Only the extraction step uses AI, and it is metered in Mtokens (millions of AI tokens). Reviewing, marking, signing, and downloading are unlimited. The free plan includes a yearly extraction allowance and limited storage; paid plans give a larger monthly allowance and unlimited storage. Security & privacy

• ✓Your documents are stored securely and encrypted at rest.
• ✓Your documents are never used to train AI models.
• ✓Deleting a certification deletes its stored file. You can delete anytime.
• ✓Each account allows one active login at a time — signing in on a new device signs out the old one.
